How to Choose the Right LED for Your Skin Concerns?

IN THIS ARTICLE:

There’s a growing interest in skincare in recent years that has caused viral beauty trends to sprout from everywhere. The downside: this influx of products and information makes choosing suitable products for your skin overwhelming and even more difficult. If you’re not too careful, some products might even end up doing more harm than good. Here’s a NASA-inspired beauty trend that’s safe, effective, and won’t disappoint. The light-emitting diode (LED) light mask.

Most LED light therapy masks in the market today offer anywhere from two to seven visible LED light colors that can address a variety of skin concerns. This multi-benefit skin treatment device delivers on its promises of skin transformation for acne-prone to dry and aging skin. It’s easy to decide which color to choose, simply identify your skin type and your skin concerns.

What is LED light therapy?

DEFINITION

LED light therapy is the use of UV-free, non-heating LED bulbs to treat a variety of skin conditions. The light energy that penetrates the skin activates photoreceptors which then triggers natural cellular processes such as collagen production, healing, and regeneration.

The LED light therapy mask is the most convenient form of LED light therapy as it allows you to experience professional quality skin treatment in the comfort of your home. This type of LED device is designed as a one-size mask that goes over the face and stays on via temples or adjustable head straps. The masks utilize the same technologies as in-clinic LED machines, so you can be sure of the results.

Are LED Light Therapy Masks Effective?

Are LED Light Therapy Masks Effective?

Based on a 2018 study published in The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, phototherapy using LED bulbs has proven beneficial effects on medical and aesthetic conditions. It is effectively used for the treatment of mild to moderate acne, wound management, psoriasis, chemotherapy side effects, aging skin rejuvenation, and many others.

The above-mentioned study also states that LED treatment devices are generally safe for use as the method is non-thermal, entirely non-invasive, and does not cause any type of damage to the skin tissues. Because there are no adverse effects, LED light therapy can be considered a lunch-hour beauty treatment that does not require recovery time after every session.

How Often Should I Use LED Light Therapy At Home?

For beginners, treatments using a LED light therapy mask, or any handheld device can be done up to four times a week starting with 10-minute sessions. Once favorable results begin to appear, reduce treatments to twice a week - you may do longer sessions for up to 15 minutes each. LED bulbs provide pure light energy and are very powerful so there is no need to amp up usage to achieve better results.
