Sometimes, skincare can be tricky. Especially when everyone has a different routine that they follow that works for them. Sometimes, there are also contradictory statements that come up when you google something that leave you more confused than before. But do not fret, we have here for you a breakdown in the form of a question and answer style!
Question #1– Can I wash my face with just water?
The answer to this is a simple no. Water will technically “wash” your face, but you have to remember that the goal of washing your face is to actually cleanse your skin. While the water might wet your skin, it is not providing the necessary help your skin needs to get rid of daily residue. In order to clean your face ready for the day ahead, or wash off all that has come before, you need to apply a cleanser to your skin.
But you also need to clean your skin before heading to bed. A nightly facial cleanser is important as it helps remove dirt, dead skin cells, and other impurities from the pores on the skin. It helps calm down the skin and makes the next steps in the routine more efficient, as they can be absorbed better into the skin. Without dirt and oil creating a barrier, you will find that your skin looks clearer and fresh, and if your cleanser has moisturizing properties, even better.
Our go-to cleanser is the Project E Beauty Enrich Foaming Wash. It is a gentle cleanser that clears pores by removing dirt and oil, while also providing moisturizing properties. It has natural hydrating qualities as well that effectively leaves your skin radiant and healthy-looking. Best of all, it is wonderful for all skin types, whether it be dry or oily. For daily use, wet your face and spray the foam into your hands. Once applied to the face, move your hands in circular motions to help it get absorbed. After massaging it in for 60 seconds, rinse it off with water and pat dry. It is great as a self-care treat as well as a start if you would like to begin building up a skincare routine!
Question #2– Is it possible for me to shrink my pores by hand?
While the answer to this question is no, there are ways in which you can minimize their appearance to improve the way your skin looks! Ingredients that help reduce excess sebum production can help make your pores look smaller. The way this works is that excess sebum settles in the pores and causes it to enlarge, making your pores more visible. But when the sebum is targeted and removed using serums or even devices like skin scrubbers, the pores can go back to their original shape which makes it not so much visible to the eye. Additionally, looser skin causes pores to look bigger. Opting for collagen boosting treatments can really enhance the appearance of your skin because it tightens it up and makes the pores less visible.
We like to use devices here at Project E Beauty to target enlarged pores, and our favorite is the Wireless Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber. It is an exfoliation skin scrubber that works with high-frequency vibrations to remove blackheads and enhance the skin texture. The high frequency vibration can penetrate your skin up to 3-5 mm depth, which can clean dead skin cells and dirt effectively. The skin scrubber is also easy to use, a quick 10-minute treatment, and can be used with any facial skincare product.
Question #3– Is it important for me to moisturize my skin?
More than moisturizing, it is important that your skin receives all the necessary ingredients it needs to be protected and healthy. In our opinion, we prefer serums as they act as moisturizers while also delivering many different active ingredients. No matter if you have naturally dry skin or naturally oily skin, everyone needs hydration that heals and protects your skin. Hydration refers to the amount of water in your skin. Your skin needs to be hydrated to remain supple, maintain its protective barrier, and give you a healthy and smooth complexion.
Hyaluronic acid serum, for example, can be a great choice as a hydrating and moisturizing serum. The Project E Beauty Hyaluronic acid serum combines with up to 1000 Times Water in its Weight to form a hydration layer on the skin. This Hyaluronic acid serum instantly absorbs moisture into the skin and delivers higher hydration levels to give you skin that glows everyday. It is found naturally in the skin as well and works as a sponge for dry skin cells. This Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a Project E Beauty favorite!
